Spider-Man Lives: A Miles Morales Story online movie review - No justice done to the legendary character
"Spider-Man Lives: A Miles Morales Story" is a 9-minute (7 without credits) short film from about a month ago, in which Peter Parker had been killed (we don't find out how or by whom) and a young African-American named Miles Morales is about to take his place.
The writer and director is Ivan Kander and looking at how he has been really prolific in film over the last couple years it's disappointing how this turned out. I guess it's quantity over quality in his case. Not a good movie. The protagonist apparently knows immediately how to deal with his super-powers, something that Parker had to learn for a long time. And the dramatic impact of the usual identity crisis (can I or can I not be Spider Man?) is nothing new or convincing the way it is shown here. Weak short film. Not recommended.
